The GateGuru production servers are experiencing downtime currently as a result of an Amazon EC2-related failure at our hosting provider, Heroku. This server outage is causing an expected crash on all GateGuru iPhone clients as they attempt to login to the server to retrieve the latest ratings, reviews, and airport updates.

We are working with our service provider to quickly restore service. And we are simultaneously investigating the issues with our iPhone apps which are causing a crash instead of a graceful failure due to the lack of server resources.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience to our users and will be working furiously to get you back online with GateGuru ASAP.

Update (01/02/2010 11:07AM PST): The GateGuru servers are coming back online at Heroku. We have intermittent reports of cessation of app crashes as well as reports of successful use of the app which seem to indicate we’re coming back online gracefully. We will continue to monitor the situation and ask that you report any issues you experience to: support@gateguruapp.com. The GateGuru team thanks you for your patience and continued support.

  1. I saw your app profiled this morning on CNN…. I know it is brilliant, because I had the same idea back in March of 2009, but couldn’t get any developers to help me fast enough. Too bad I couldn’t (and wouldn’t) give up my day job as photographer shooting weddings around the world. I bought ‘airport maps’ a few months ago and knew it wasn’t half of what I wanted the app to be. An Apple employee told me to keep going with my app if I though I could improve on the airport maps….but now I see there is no point. Gate guru is exactly the app I would have designed. Bravo. I will go on to the next great idea and get to work on it faster. See you at the Apple developers conference in February?
